This blog will track my first-ever attempt at a coast-to-coast road walking journey, sure to be a very different experience from the wilderness-style thru-hikes I’ve done over the past 10 years. I completed the triple crown of US long distance hiking in 2022, returned to the Appalachian Trail in 2023 for a second thru-hike of that trail, and returned to the southern New Mexico section of the Continental Divide Trail earlier this month, serving as a warm-up and precursor to this Coast-to-Coast walk that begins in earnest from Pike’s Market (on the Seattle wharf) on Friday, May 17th. I planned and chose the northerly U.S. route myself specifically to include Spokane Valley, Washington (Wendy, our home) and locations in Minnesota (family, friends). My East Coast destination is nominally a beach in New Jersey, though I anticipate the possibility of that changing slightly over time as I become more familiar with conditions.
You’ll see that this site has no ads, no merch, no ask. It’s nuthin’ but nuthin’ but hiking. Check out the “My Youtube Videos” and “Previous Thru-Hikes” menu items above if you’re interested in seeing pictures and videos from my previous long distance hikes. I hope you enjoy!
