Seattle to Snoqualmie Pass

[The first set of videos are now posted to my YouTube playlist for this hike feel free to check those out too!]

Morning #1, leaving my hostel, the American Hotel
Downtown Seattle Amtrak station
The Seattle wharf at Jackson Street, 5:30 am, 5/17/2024

Snoqualmie Pass is well known to hikers on the Pacific Crest Trail as a “town” stop for resupply, showers, etc. As I cross the first of the Triple Crown trails, I note that this is at least my 3rd time walking through this area, once while thru-hiking the PCT, once on a warm-up hike with my son Jerry and now this time, going through west to east. Wendy and I have also stayed here at the Summit Inn while exploring the region.

Looking out from the wharf
Looking down at my foot, glad I’m not starting with a swim
Crossing lake Washington, my old walk route when we lived here
Sketchy tunnel en route to Mercer Island
Leaving Mercer
Cities…
Shout out to the old neighborhood
May it be a great one!
Really?
Issaquah lat/long in case anyone is tracking
Walking an old railroad line
Volleyball in the shadow of the Cascades, nice!
One of the many trails that made up the first 2 days of walking
No, not exclusively road-walking
Two bunnies
Something about not seeing beyond the rise in the road that compels me onward
Had to cross this a couple of times, luckily there were rock hops

It’s almost exactly 60 miles back to the wharf in Seattle from which I started, a lot more ground than I expected to cover in 2 days. My feet are beat, but holding up well and I’m as excited as I’ve ever been on a long distance hike. Walking east is bright and sunny in the morning and wonderful in the afternoon with the sun over my shoulders,  John Denver style.

One of the “Twin Falls” between Seattle and Snoqualmie
Looking straight down from an old trail trestle
I90 from the ridge
Beautiful trail miles
Sticker on lower left, perfect
Money found on road, volume 1

I’m including a barrage of pictures from the first two days- I hope you enjoy! Keeping this short as I want to get back on trail. It rained most of the day yesterday,  but apparently it’s supposed to stop in an hour or so, so hopefully I’ll get to hike dry today

That’s all for now except to send love and good cheer to all of you walking along with me! Max

We’ve been off the grid, in Stehekin, for a few days. I’m so excited to catch up with your journey! 60 miles in TWO DAYS? You’re an ANIMAL!
Thank you for sharing all these beautiful pictures!
    Buen Camino, my friend! 👣💛

    • Wow, Stehikin is actually a PCT trail town, love it there! Did you guys hike in or boat in?
