Just a quick note before sleep. Wendy and I arrived at the Mazama Country Inn today and she’ll drive me the final 20 miles in the morning to Harts Pass, where I’ll hike north a couple days in order to start my southbound hike from the Canadian border. Other than the amorous couple in the hottub just below our balcony, the sites and sounds here in the Cascade foothills are as advertised. And after putting in lots of recent miles testing my foot, the pack feels great, the weather is going to be fantastic and the snow is melting at a good clip so perhaps I won’t have to carry the micros spikes and ice axe too deep into the hike. I’m really looking forward to setting off tomorrow. Cheers to all! Max
